Planning Conception

Preparing to Conceive

If you are planning on trying to get pregnant, there are several things you should do to increase your conception chances and ensure your future pregnancy is a healthy, happy one.

- The first thing you should do is track your monthly cycle. This will increase the chances of knowing exactly when you will be ovulating, which will, in turn, increase your chances of successful conception.

- Start taking prenatal vitamin and mineral supplements. Both you and your baby will benefit from a regular intake of these vital nutrients, right throughout your pregnancy.

- Zinc. Supplements are not only important for the female, they also play an important role for the farther-to-be. Zinc is important for the development of healthy sperm, maximising your chances of healthy conception.

- Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Regular excercise and healthy eating will not only help your chances of conceiving, but is also very beneficial once you become pregnant, helping fatigue and general aches and pains.

- If you are a smoker, you should quit before you plan to conceive. Smoking not only contains countless harmful substances, but also reduces your oxygen intake. This can lower your chances of becoming pregnant and can also harm your unborn baby.

- Stop drinking alcohol. Its common sence, you know what alcohol can do to you, imagine what harm it can do to an unborn baby.

- Relax. sounds silly, but stress has been known to cause delays with conception, so if you are planning on trying for a baby, you may benefit from eliminating any stress from your life before you start.
